We live in a twisted world. We live in a world that worships likes instead of love. Our leaders are no longer moral advisors to look up to. Instead, we admire lying and cheating, manipulation over understanding.
The word “Christian” has become synonymous with hatred, misogyny, and discrimination. We’ve taken away choice without the structure or support of parents and their children. Abortion is being outlawed but our foster system is broken and financial assistance is seen as entitlement instead of bare structural necessity.
Christian Nationalism is heralded when it’s actually an oxymoron. God requires allegiance to Him over all else. Jesus condemned judgement of others but that has now become a sign of devotion for the Christian Right. Jesus preached radical love of others – especially immigrants. This message has been written over with love of country.
I grieve, especially when talking to the younger demographic. I know of two young adults who explored satanism seeing it as an equal opportunity with all the harm being done in the name of Christ. It gets harder and harder to be seen as loving. I often feel compelled to say, “I’m a Christian but not that kind”. What has happened?
