Life can be hard. It can be hard when dreams don’t come true. It can be sad or frustrating. Sometimes we do everything “right” only to face disappointment. When life isn’t what we expect or want out of it, it’s easy to blame God. He’s got the power right? He CAN do anything even when He chooses not to. We want to trade free-will for answered prayers. We just want Him to ACT!
But God isn’t a magic genie granting us three wishes. He lets us make our own choices and face our own consequences. He opens doors but we don’t always see them, or they aren’t the doors we want opened. We ignore Him and then wonder why He’s not giving us what we want. We put ourselves first instead of recognizing how God wants to use us to answer other’s prayers. I would guess you feel the same way at times. I know with all I’ve been dealing with, I’m ready to be done. I’m ready for some blessings in life.
But life is not a spreadsheet with a good column and a bad column – although I may act like it should be. The problem is my perception is not always accurate. Broken dreams can be replaced by new ones. I can see the love being offered by friends and family instead of giving in to feelings of isolation. I can focus on the high-quality medical care I receive instead of giving in to the fears of my diagnoses. And I don’t need to fear death as I embrace eternal life with God. Sometimes I get scared of the future, but I shouldn’t be. God is in charge, and He loves me more than I can imagine. He loves all of us. We don’t need to be in fear. We simply need to trust.
Romans 8:28 We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.
