Find Your Voice

I’ve had a website and blog since 2016. I haven’t gone viral. I don’t have thousands of followers. But I have a few loyal friends who read my posts. I don’t do it for fame or fortune. I do it because I can. I can afford my own website. I have the time to write every week. I have a message to share: we are warriors!

Those of us with imperfect lives, who refuse to give up, who wake up every day and try our best at whatever we do, we are warriors! I have three subjects I focus on: mental illness, LGBTQ, and addiction. I focus on these because I have intimate knowledge. I have schizoaffective disorder. My wife is transgender. Addiction has ravaged my family for generations.

So, I use my voice. Some people probably tune me out. They pass over my posts without even looking. Some get tired of me. Some think I should keep my opinion to myself, that I should hide these areas of my life. But I won’t do that. I will talk about my life to anyone who needs to know they can overcome. They are not alone. They are not sinful. They are loved by God and there are people that will love them if they can just hold on.

Are you using your voice? Do you speak out on issues that are important to you? Do you brave the confrontations and trolls? Are you a warrior? Because the world needs you. It needs your voice so that those who have no voice can still be heard. Don’t silence your voice, silence your detractors. Don’t let anyone tell you what is okay to share and what is not. You have a mind. You can figure out when it is safe to share and when you should keep it to yourself. Not because it is shameful but because not everyone can hear your story and be blessed. Just keep sharing so the person who is confused, sad, or angry knows they are not alone.
