Don’t Be Afraid, Just Believe

Sometimes what is happening in our country worries me. Sometimes it scares me. At one point, I was sitting down ruminating and looked down at the little pouch I keep my pens in and saw the words, “Don’t be afraid, just believe”. The words brought me comfort as I realized God is greater than my anxiety. God is greater than my fears.
When I think about my friends and family going through the storms of life, I remind myself of a simple truth: God loves those I love even more than I do. God loves me even more than those who love me. While human love comes with baggage, God’s love is perfect. And it is not a passive love. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God loves us so much He allowed His son to be sacrificed for our sake. He gave it all for us.
Our God knows our fears. He is not ignorant of the pain in this world, but He loves us within the midst of that pain. And He gives us hope in the midst of that struggle. He is with us. But He has not taken on our responsibilities. It is up to us to show His love to those around us. He calls us to take action whenever we can to bring heaven on earth to earth. Through it all, He promises to be with us, to guide us and support us. We are His beloved. All of us. Don’t be afraid. Just believe.
