Why Do You Care?

Why do you care who I love? How do my choices affect you?

What is your purpose? Do you think your words of condemnation will somehow make me see things your way? Telling me I’m not welcome in church as you gossip about me behind my back and judge me for who I am. You tell me who I should sleep with while you cheat on your spouse and have sex before marriage.

Why do you care how I dress? Why does a man wearing a dress or a woman with cropped hair make you angry?

You take portions of the bible and say they must be taken literally when Jesus spoke in parables, encouraging listeners to think about the message he was conveying rather than simply the words coming out of his mouth.

Do you think your words will help? Do you think saying, “God hates fa**” will somehow lead me closer to Him?

What about the scriptures that tell us to love? 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 says it doesn’t matter what we do if it isn’t built on Love. It doesn’t matter if we think we’re “right” if we don’t have Love. Without love “I am nothing”. Without love “I gain nothing”. Matthew 22:36-40 The greatest Commandments are loving God and loving others. Your hatred is sinful. Your judgement is sinful. God calls us to love so I ask you again: Why do you care?

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”

Matthew 22:36-40 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
