God's Love


Recently Pastor Kristy Daniels did a sermon on the need to love oneself. It struck me because I’m very hard on myself and frequently give in to berating myself for every mistake I’ve ever made. I know some of you can relate! When I write, I try to find scripture that speaks to the topic God places on my heart. There are so many scriptures to choose from when it comes to God’s Love! My two favorites are Ephesians 3: 17b-19: “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” And John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”


Can you grasp it? Can you grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ? Can you feel the love that must be there to sacrifice His only Son for US! How do you hate anyone – yourself or others – amidst that immense love? God calls us to love ourselves and love others as He loves us. Feel that love wash over you! Feel that love erase all the miniscule mistakes you’ve made in the enormity of life. Give that shame and self doubt, that anger and fear, give it all to God for He loves us. Not the kind of love that fades over time but the kind of love that is greater than we can possibly imagine. God LOVES us! Amen!
